Nollywood actress, Iniobong Edo, has candidly revealed her regret over her decision to get married. Ini Edo tied the knot with American-based businessman Philip Ehiagwina on November 29, 2008. However, their marriage endured for only five years before ending in divorce in 2013.
During a recent interview with popular media personality Chude Jideonwo, the actress admitted that family pressure was a significant factor that led her to walk down the aisle. She expressed her remorse, stating, “I regretted my decision to get married because it wasn’t the right move to make.”
Despite her past experience, Ini Edo mentioned that she would consider getting married again if she finds the right person. This statement suggests that she has not completely closed the door on the possibility of a future marriage.
When discussing her choice to welcome her baby through surrogacy, Ini Edo explained that she opted for this route due to a series of miscarriages she had experienced. Faced with the challenges of fertility, she decided to pursue surrogacy as an alternative.
“I chose surrogacy because I had experienced multiple miscarriages. I reached a point where I became tired of trying,” Ini Edo shared. She further explained her reasoning, saying, “I don’t have a husband, so I thought, why not have a child for myself, whether I have a husband or not? I wanted the child to be mine, with my own eggs. Fortunately, my eggs were viable, so I proceeded with the surrogacy process.”
In 2021, Ini Edo joyfully announced the arrival of her first child, a baby girl, through the surrogacy method. Despite her previous marital regrets, she has found happiness and fulfillment in becoming a mother.
Ini Edo’s candid revelation about her regrets surrounding her marriage provides insight into the complexities of personal relationships. It also highlights her resilience and determination to pursue motherhood through alternative means.
