Real Madrid has successfully secured the transfer of Jude Bellingham from Borussia Dortmund in a groundbreaking deal worth €103 million (£88m/$110m). The news, first revealed by David Ornstein of The Athletic, confirms that Real Madrid has finalized an agreement with Dortmund for the transfer of the 19-year-old midfielder to the Santiago Bernabeu this summer. This transfer fee ranks among the highest in the histories of both clubs. Bellingham is expected to undergo a medical examination in the “coming days” after arriving in the Spanish capital.
Dortmund has officially confirmed the agreement with Real Madrid and provided details of the deal structure. In their statement, Dortmund stated, “Jude Bellingham is set to transfer from Borussia Dortmund to Real Madrid CF. Today, the parties have reached an agreement on the essential terms. The contractual details are yet to be coordinated and documented. The completion of the transfer is also contingent upon the proper and timely processing in accordance with the provisions of the FIFA Transfer Matching System (FIFA TMS).”
According to the agreement, Real Madrid will pay a fixed transfer fee of EUR 103.0 million to BVB. Additionally, variable transfer fees of up to approximately 30% of the fixed transfer fee have been agreed upon. The payment of these variable transfer fees is contingent upon certain sporting achievements by Real Madrid and/or the player’s performance at Real Madrid over the next six seasons.
