Vice-President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has officially submitted his nomination forms to contest the flagbearership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP). During the presentation at the NPP headquarters in Asylum Down, Accra, Dr. Bawumia laid out his vision for the country and the party, highlighting his track record of achievements and loyalty.
Dr. Bawumia expressed his belief that Ghana has the potential to become like advanced nations if its people unite and harness the available technologies and emerging ones with a renewed mindset. He emphasized the possibility of breaking the eight-year cycle in order to continue the transformational policies initiated by the NPP.
Addressing the enthusiastic crowd through loudspeakers, Dr. Bawumia called on all NPP supporters and lovers of the party to rally behind him throughout the primaries, the general election in December 2024, and beyond. He expressed confidence in achieving victory by the grace of God.
The event drew hundreds of NPP supporters, who showcased their dedication by wearing party paraphernalia and creating a lively atmosphere with singing and dancing. Dr. Bawumia stressed the need to move Ghana to the next level by building upon the foundations laid by the current government and the NPP. He emphasized leveraging technology, data, and systems for inclusive economic growth, aiming to make Ghana the digital hub of Africa and bridge the digital divide.
Dr. Bawumia also highlighted his vision for an education system focused on STEM, robotics, artificial intelligence, and vocational skills to adapt to the demands of the fourth industrial revolution. He expressed his desire to see a Ghana that caters to the poor, vulnerable, excluded, and sick, and emphasized the importance of achieving food security through the application of science, data, and irrigation for commercial farming.
Furthermore, Dr. Bawumia pledged to complete the digitalization of all farms across the country, maximize the benefits from natural resources, empower local businesses, develop an efficient credit system through credit scoring, and work towards energy self-sufficiency at a reduced cost through solar and other renewables.
